Say very simply to courage. There are few people who have real courage in the world. When have difficulty, have few people go to face, so we should the courage which do exercises one's own. In both "The Sniper "and "Sir Gawain and The Green Knight", have embodied the protagonist's brave in two stories. The author described brave can let us learn a lot.
In the story "Sir Gawain and The Green Knight", Sir Gawain is not afraid of facing death, so he is a brave person. Kept a promise to the Green knight and come out to speak with the Green Knight from the knights of the Round. Sir Gawain want to prove oneself is really Knight before the king and everybody. For example, Gawain said that "No one laughs at the knight of the Round Table. Hand he that axe, and he will strike your laughing head from your body!" Gawain took the axe from the Green Knight and got ready to swing. Thus, he is very brave because he can cut the Green Knight’s head, and doesn't hesitate. The Green Knight is a person who he doesn't know, but he has a lot of courage. In addition, he is brave even when he is in the face of death; he didn't run away and had one's own ideas. In other words, the Lady Westlaw makes Sir Gawain run away, but the Sir Gawain said that "he doesn't want to die. He wants to live!” But still he must do to the Green Castle "He has to come to keep his promise. Hence, it means that he knows that he will die, but he went to the Green Castle to keep his promise. The lady lets him run away, but he didn't run away. So this proves he is brave. To summarize, being brave is a trait of Sir Gawain, he is a Knight who keeps a promise to the Green Knight and come out to speak with the Green Knight from the Knight of the Round in the story.
In the story ''The Sniper”, the sniper is not afraid of facing death, so he is a brave person. He still insists on fighting to the end when he is injured and he is not alarmed and frightened to face the face the enemy. He is a very inexorability. For example,” the sniper's face was the face of a student, thin and ascetic, but his eyes had the cold gleam of the fanatic. They were deep and thoughtful, the eyes of a man who is used to looking at death.” Thus, he is very brave because he never hides in the face of the enemy, but he kills persons never hesitate. After all, the war is very cruel. In addition, he is very brave, he is enduring the injured pain of arm, insists on making to the enemy. In other words, “the sniper’s right arm was paining him like a thousand angry knives. He took a steady aim. His hand trembled with eagerness. Pressing his lips together, he took a deep breath through his nostrils and fired. He was almost deafened with the report and his arm shook with the recoil.” Hence, it means that he doesn’t strike back if because of he is injured, and then what will die is he. The war is cruel. If the sniper didn’t killed enemy, the enemy will kill the sniper. He has faced this fact, so the sniper is brave. To summarize, the sniper is brave. His character has been embodied. He has faced a lot of difficulties, the quick-witted defeated the enemy. He emerges bravery in the story.
In both “The Sniper” and "Sir Gawain and The Green Knight”, have seen these two stories, there are different feeling, realize that different brave. Must have courage to venture and dare, if we need to survive in the world. In the author’s words, there is brave what we didn’t have. The courage which does exercises one’s own in society. In fact, brave is not simple.
